Yeah Emik... if all else fails... buy them?

Yesterday I checked a city park. I searched some trails for about thirty minutes. I spotted a handful of mushrooms. When I came back to my car I dropped my key, looked down and saw that right by where I parked my car was a 20 foot long patch of mushrooms I'd totally overlooked. Inactives unfortunately, but it's amazing how easily they can go unnoticed. I found another field later on that was about thirty feet by fifty feet and you couldn't take a step without crushing a mushroom. Still no actives :frown:

Excellent.

I was making liquid cultures (which was difficult because of their size) hence the gloves, although after I picked up a piece of poo earlier on, I do also wear them while hunting as well most of the time.

As for the clump, it was the smallest piece I could grab and as stated, there was lot more and they were left untouched.  It all went towards propagation and I like giving back to mother nature what she is kind enough to provide (actually, it was all done by a friend of course). My FoaF has been practicing wood propagation since Spring after finding what he thinks are subaeruginascens (I won't try and squeeze in an id request but they are in my "unknown" gallery folder if anyone is curious).

Cheers,

v

Bad news for us all,
it may be a very short lived season.
I overheard a news channel talking about almost "skipping" fall and heading straight into winter.
The mountains are already getting hit with snow, which has only been dried up for about 4 months.
I disagree as much as you do, i just thought id put that out there.

Ugh really? This sucks. I've searched 5 or 6 times and I can't find anything. And I live in fucking Tacoma. I've still never even touched a psilocybin mushroom in my life.

:undecided:

I really hope the season isn't cut too short.

Don't sweat it my friend, i have had picking opps in the snow!! Not to mention, there is always a cold snap at the beginning of the season, it makes them stronger anyway.
You must keep a focused mind to the psilocybin. If you need them, they will find you!!

I have seen weilii with hollow and solid stipes, I think it has to do with the amount of nutrients in the substrate.

More nutes=solid stipes

DO NOT BE DISCOURAGED!!!

This year's rainy season has been a bit confusing. Perhaps Al Gore was onto something The last few days have been very sunny and dry, unusual for this area. I feel like I'm being followed, because I normally do not have to worry about my shadow tailing me...

All the spots that produced heavy flushes for my buddies and me are yet fruitless, but Mycelium  is abundant so we all know it'll take just one more heavy rain to launch everybody into caramel-capped ecstasy. But the other day, on a tip from a FOAF , I went for a stroll in an area I hadn't checked before.

To my left, a huge flush  of an indicator species, a prolific woodlover  that I see everywhere, sometimes following P. Cyans in the same spot. I knew I was close. Then... something on the ground. Like hundreds of tiny eggs waiting to hatch, THERE THEY WERE!

Clearly, there are no mature specimens yet, but just a single day-long rain episode like Washington is known for (like the kind we HAVEN'T had in months) will make this entire patch push 'em out like jiffy-pop. Enjoy, and bask in the shared vibes. Keep hunting, especially in areas that can stay moist during the day. For now, I'll enjoy the cloudless day and lie in the grass.

Yes I think those are P. subaeruginascens due to the annulus in pic # 2 and the time of year.

Damn guys, so is it even worth going hunting yet? For some reason everyone finds hella cyans in seattle, and I live on the eastside, in Sammamish to be precise and I cannot find shit every season so whats the deal is it in my head??? or can you find just as many mushrooms on the eastside as in seattle.....

It is a superstition I have had or it is just the mushroom gods hoping and wishing for a differant type of people to find these or to stomp them out because of all these fucking rich stuck up people that live in my community..

whatever!

Good hunting! I am going tomarrow! maybe seattle or eastside don't know yet but whatever!

LAter!

Weather forecast for the Seattle area is actually starting to worry me-- we had frost on the ground this morning and there is precious little cloud/rain forecast for the coming five days. We may actually skip the autumn wet season and go straight into cold and dry, which is very bad news for our blue friends.

Or am I worrying too much; perhaps this cold snap is what they need to get the ball rolling? All I know is usually I can't see my shadow, only my reflection in the moist earth by this time of year...
