Cyans are woodlovers, they prefer aldur or cedar chips but ife found cyans growing off dead logs, pinecones and even live trees.
Your best bet would be looking in "Paths of manmade destruction" such as sites where they have cut down trees or spread woodchips on pathways.
I have pictures of wild cyans growing too.

How long does cyan season last? Weilii season is from spring to winter which is very long i think.

It usually starts after the beginning of fall when rain comes more and ends once it snows so its a good 2 months I believe.
But the more it rains the more they come so the wetter the better

I'm on 10 manicured acres in an alder stand.....about 200 trees total....and I'm planning on making my own rain. Should I find some, I'd like to collect spores and make beds for next year.

Does anyone know if they prefer alder bark or wood? I've been shaving bark off of logs to make an ideal mulch, but am I wasting my time? Should I just chip the whole log?

Either way....it's close!

Either way....it's close!

They do not grow off just the bark.
The best thing to do to make your own mulch is put some aldur trees into a wood chipper and spread them thick in an area.

I was pointing out to Wielii that we have all those as well as cyans. I've never found Azures so I can't speak on it, but I sure do love them Cyans.

On a slightly different note, I really like the shortenings of their names. Azure and Cyan, two types of blue, and they're both like the most potent fucking mushrooms on Earth. God I love the PNW.

Azures may be quite potent and libs take handfulls to get you frying so I dont think your book is accurate
And also bouth of the blue named mushrooms turn blue when bruised
