1. I do not know I usully start from spores.
2. I would not worry about it, most wood lovers can be growen out on card board which has even less nutiants than your home made agar. Good luck

from what i gather, if a strain hasnt yet been subjected to peroxide, itll stall growth for a wee bit, then resume provided the concentration of peroxide isnt too high-
good luck and keep us posted (im preparing to make the plunge into agar/peroxide- so now im keeping my eyes open and doing tons of research)

I'm confused about what the concentration of hydrogen peroxide should be in the agar. I've heard 20X dilution of 3% (0.15%) all the way to a 150X dilution of 3% (0.02%). That's a pretty huge difference! What concentration do you folks use?

I have never seen an actual copy of that peroxide guys manual he sells, but I have gleaned from newsgroups and that the tek recommends something like this:

concentrations recommended: .018% for agar dishes
.15% for grain spawn
.03% for wood-based fruiting substrates

I normally go with 1ml of 3% peroxide in 50ml of water for everything. Easier that way :wink:

I must say that the peroxide added was done so rather haphazardly (sp?)
I added a little too much probly.
However the first out of four chunks is exhibiting what seems like silvery roots.

Very short and faint (maybe a crack in the agar). 5th day now I;ll keep you posted.
