Don't give TOO much credit to substances. It's more like the universe put them together because they were meant to be together. I'm sure that acid had a lot to do with getting them all to the head space where they were ready for this experience, but the drug itself is only a catalyst for spiritual growth on a path that must still be chosen by the individuals.

maynard j.k is kinda a douche, but i respect his music and tool is still probably one of my favorite bands. but he never talks to the crowd at shows, and is an ass more often than not in his interviews. sure i hate a lot of tool fans and the media too, but its what made you not have to sell shoes for a living. my 2 cents he's a pissy bitch

ouch man, harsh words.  now i am a huge zep fan (my first piece of body art will be dedicated to led zeppelin) but tools cover of no quarter is far from faggy.  as a matter of fact, compared to all the shitty 80s hair bands that attempted to cover zeppelin, the cover that tool did is fantastic.  (although i feel no one should be allowed to cover zeppelin songs because they are far too good to be covered)

maynard is an excellent musician and song writer.  he did a lot of research on sounds and how they effect brain waves, so his music is truly put together to mess with your mind.  while he may be extremely cocky he is still hands down one of the best musicians of this era.

sabbath is some weak shit man, war pigs was the only good thing to ever come out of them and some sick guitar, other than that ozzy can lick nut.

tool is the new zep, zep was the start of metal and tool has taken it to another level.

i like tool, zeppelin, and black sabbath who cares who the new zeppelin is though... and who wants a new zeppelin anyhow, it's been done already.

but anyways...

i was at whole foods (mostly organic grocery store) earlier waiting for my burrito and i sat down at a table and saw a little sign that was sitting there and it read, "maynard james keenan of tool, a perfect cirlce, and puscifer... in store for a wine tasting and will offer singed bottles of his new wine fresh from his vineyard... blah, blah...

i didn't know what to think of that.

I only like parts of Tool's songs... he has a great voice, and great melody sometimes, but the guitar riffing just seems too atonal and uninteresting for me to get into.  :shrug:

The intro to The Pot and Vicarious are sexcellent, but it gets ruined by the main part of the song.

Sober and Passive (by his side-project A Perfect Circle), however, are fucking excellent songs in their entirety.
