I only like parts of Tool's songs... he has a great voice, and great melody sometimes, but the guitar riffing just seems too atonal and uninteresting for me to get into.

The intro to The Pot and Vicarious are sexcellent, but it gets ruined by the main part of the song.

Sober and Passive (by his side-project A Perfect Circle), however, are fucking excellent songs in their entirety.

\

sober is a tool song what about aenema, forty six & 2, lateralus, schism, parabola, man those are all great songs.

imo APC is a joke compared to tool in terms of quality of music and actual song content.

Tool have some crazily perfect psychedelic stuff.

The song "Disposition"- that was unreal on one shroom trip.  It took control of the room entirely, it was so tranquil, I've never experienced anything like it.  I can't put it into words.  I love that track so much.  So fucking chill

I liked tool up until 10,000 days.  That album just seems dim compared to the rest, and Lateralus was on the brink of the diaper-shit that 10,000 Days turned out to be.

How do you go from pretty much blasting religion, to the song 10,000 days?  I know half the songs don't really have any concrete meanings slapping you in the face, and can be interpreted in many ways but wtf... opiate/10,000 Days.

It pisses me off.

eh, they're alright. maynard is obviously talented at what he's trying to accomplish musically, but him nor his bands are anything close to a "perfect" band, there's no such thing, and if there was, i think there are musical groups that transcend beyond what tool/perfect circle are achieving.

Tool tended to blast organized religion and the ways it can be used to control and dumb down the population.  The bible, for instance, was edited of its gnostic parts that would nullify the need for a church structure.  I do'nt think for one instant that 10k days is contradictory to their original view.  In fact, just look at the lyrics to wfm/10k: http://toolshed.down.net/lyrics/10kdayslyrics.php .  I'll let y'all interpret for yourselves, but I'm sure any sensible person will agree that it's far from the typical Christian praise God hallelujah song.  I thinks its an awesome song regardless.  And while I do prefer Aenima and Lateralus, I hold 10k days to a very high regard(with right in two being my favorite piece on the album).  I'm sure that their next, and last IMHO, album will be stellar.

^^ Its been stated by every member of the band that Tool will continue to create and produce music until one of them dies.

If you actually took the time to listen and god forbid THINK, then you'd come to realize that 10,000 days is very anti-religious.  Tools music has grown more and more with each album, and poeple like you start to bash it because you cant read between the lines and interpret a song without somebody else telling you what its about.

people evolve, dude... and maybe you should, too... lateralus is one of the most spiritual pieces of art i have seen/heard... maybe maynard just got to the point that he realized that no matter what god you believe in, it is all part of the same universal being... now dont get me wrong, i am in no way a supporter of organized dogma, but for me 10.000 days is maynard acknowledging her mother's force of will... the song is more dedicated to her than to anything else... why the hell do you think he goes "what am i supposed to say to all these ghouls" ?

ythan, you rock dude.  i feel that my time at the shroomery was very positive and enjoyable, but this site is no longer for me. im not mad or upset or disappointed, i just want no part in a pg rated faggot festival.

When AEnema came out I seriosly could not name one band or
song that even came close to their sound, not to mention message.

I'm not a huge tool fan although I do like them but
seriously you have to at least give them credit for originality.
