The Tryptophan and Tryptamine FAQ 0.5 talks about converting L-Tryptopham into Tryptamine, but I cannot find anything on converting 5-Hydroxy-L-Tryptophan into L-Tryptophan. If there was a easy way it probibly would be posted here by now.

Last I checked you could get L-Tryptophan from JLF.. I'm not sure if they still carry it but they did a month or so ago..

Here is a interesting quote form the latest book that I have been reading:
"Regulation mechanisms in the synthesis of ergot alkaloids by Claviceps fungi have been studied in several laboratories, often in connection with the biosynthetic studies described here in Chapter 3. Here we are conserned only with the earliest steps in the process, from tryptophan to the simple beses such as agroclavine.
Laboratory cultures for alkaloid production are usually grown with phosphate as the limiting nutrient. In the growth phase, tryptophan synthesis is controlled by normal feedback mechanisms, but when the phosphate level becomes limiting there is a disproportionate increase in the tryptophan pool, suggesting that there is a change in the feedback control at this stage. "
Pieter S. Steyn (1980) "The biosynthesis of Mycotoxins" pg. 11

If our fungi is similar to the fungi that he is talking about in the above paragraph we could possibly increase potency by limiting the amount of phosphate in our subtraight, how to do that I do not know.

White rice is comperable to brown rice in most of the nutritional values, except that it contains much less phosphorus.
