I went to micheals to buy some posters for the girl friend.... on my little adventure in the store I came accross some "Hay Bales"... It looks like straw to me... and on the sticker it says "Straw Bale Large" even though on the sign it said "Sale: Hay Bales".....

Here are some pics:

Straw is an agricultural by-product, the dry stalk of a cereal plant, after the grain or seed has been removed.

Hay is a generic term for grass or legumes that have been cut, dried, and stored for use as animal feed.

looks like straw hay usually is darker and straw is yellow

I'm trying to find a good straw tek to spawn with my PF cakes......the only straw tek I can find is "shroomgods"...... is ther any more for small casings like tin pans or tupperware?

I'm just going to pasturise and make a layer of straw with a layer of PF cake (crumbled) in the middle and another layer of straw on top.. I don;t really wanna do a huge rubbermaid bin like shroomgods.... I just want to do several casings..... any ideas?

Yes, put straw in pillow case, or laundry bag and put in pot of water, place on stove, bring heat up so middle of the substrate reads 160-170 for about 90 minutes

No.  Straw should be used in large quantities for best results.  If you want a small tray, use manure or coir.

I'm full of questions guys I really need your help here;

I can only grow this once because of roomies so I need a good yeild..I'll keep you all up to date on this too.

I only have like 10 - 250ml PF cakes, what's the most I can do with them?

Can I use one cake per casing? If so I can make 10 casings, right? Or is there a ratio I need to use??? Is it the same as grain spawns? Can someone help me with these ratios:

Cake:straw
Cake:Coir

If I were to get like... 10 rubbermaids and use them with straw would I be able to use 1 cake for each of them??? Is this a good idea????

I will be able to set up a couple bulk grows at my friends place.... and I want to do a couple casing in my room. What can I really do with 10 cakes???? I want o get the most dried shrooms per cake that I can...

Can I do a whole bulk tub with straw and  ONE cake??? Or do I need several?? Thanks guys.

You want a minimum ratio of 1:5 spawn to bulk sub or about 20% spawn (1/2 pint cakes in your case). So for every half pint cake you use, you can spawn to about 5 half pints worth of bulk substrate. The straw from Michaels works well, but like RR said, you need to use a good amount of it to make it worth your while.

Search the cultivation archives, the forums and the main site for more information on how to do bulk grows.

I can't really fiond any h.poo, and I think staw is going to be my only option... I'm gonna try maybe 2 rubbermaids with 5 cakes in each of them... If I have extra I might do 1 casing or 1 dunk and roll....

Do I need a casing layer ontop of the straw?

Thanks.
