ShroomGod's Bulk Straw Tek!!

Hi I just have a quick question about ShroomGod's Straw (Bulk) Tek...After you put the first layer of plastic wrap over the straw and grain substrate (the layer with the holes in it), should the top be put on the rubbermaid container or left off? It doesn't say anything about putting it back on, however I was thinking that that may have just been implied. Or does the plastic wrap serve as the top to keep the humidity in? Anyone know what to do about this? Thanks...

The top should be put back on...
You are going to incubate and colonize the straw before fruiting, so it needs to be left in complete darkness. Put in a warm area (not sunny), and colonization will be sped up.

The top is not required if he incubates in a dark place.

My friend always puts the top back on. It gives him peace of mind that contams will be kept out of his container.

It doesn't have to be dark. Mycellium will grow in total light or dark jsut fine. I've seen jars fully colonize in 2 weeks under lights 24/7 and I have a tray of straw right here which is colonizing very quickly on my kitchen table.

Maybe you can do it somehow, but, I will get invirtro pinning If there is too much light....

why not just state info that is known and well practiced. Its confusing for people to think that they could also incubate in light...It might be possible, but surely seems to be unnatural.
