Spine question
    #8959948 -

So I just went outside and took a few pics with different cam settings and lighting to ask this question. Its probably nothing special but Im hoping the spines will stay the same. Maybe one of you have seen this before and know the answer?

Notice how one of the bridgesiis has more redder spines (which all of my bridgesiis have) and then one has more yellow spines.

They came from the same batch of seeds. Will you get different types of variations in the same seed batches? Im hoping its some kind of trait, like blonde hair compared to brown on humans. Its kinda funny, When I first noticed the cactis spines I thought it reminded me of me (blonde hair).

yeah I love how they go from baby spines to mature spines right away when grafted to Pereskiopsis
thats like one of my favorite things in the world lol

Its not too hard, especially if you got bigger cacti, cpw just made a nice video for grafting with a little larger sized scions, pretty fail-proof method. As for the smaller scions just make sure the scions vascular ring touches the stocks at some point, but not to be centered directly on top of the stocks vascular ring, theres some pics to clear that up, it took me a few times looking at pics, and failing at grafting to get it right, and also humidity is key. ive had scions lift up and only half of the scion was touching the pereskiopsis the first day in the humidity and it formed like a callous that connected them back together (yes they do grow slower and id recommend regrafting those). Maybe someone can post a pic of how to place the vascular rings for you.

yeah i wish my scions were bigger. i have read numerous teks, and they just don't seem to take. also it's hard to see the vascular rings on small seedlings.
anyway i'll stop hijacking your thread now. nice pics though.

Place the scions off center. Try to align up the scions side to the side of the pereskiopsis. Like dont go too far where the scion has some of itself hanging over the edge of the pere, but have it just right to where it has nothing hanging off, but not centered (unless the scion is the same size of the pere then itl have to be centered.

Im not sure if I wrote that clear enough to understand what im trying to say. And humidity. Make sure to give them humidity. I think that might be the most important thing when dealing with tiny scions.

Basically. Look up Mendel and his peas :P

Also, remember they will become more faded as they age,  hence oxidise.. ~_~
