Jars getting wet please HELP

I just PCed 6 jars last night and to my surprise it seems 2 of them got an exccesive amount of water in them. I plan on trashing them, but I was wondering how I can prevent this. I had about an inch and a half of water, so that it went about 1/2 up t he side of the bottom jar layer. I know it's not a water problem due to the fact that 2 that were on the bottom layer did survive. I figure it was the aluminium foil wasn't doing it's job. I was wondering if it would be possible to cover the jar with alum foil from the bottom up, similar to wrapping a christmas gift. just wondering if this would still sterilize the jar as well.

don't use that much water when you PC your jars.

use 1" of water.

Yeah you could wrap the whole jar up with alum foil.
