gallon jars done

I haven't been this excited since i was a kid at christmas. i have 5 GALLON jars ( 5 one gallon jars) completely colonized.... no contams. everyone told me that is was extremely hard to get a jar that size to colonize. here's what i did. i went to the grocery store and bought birdseed. i pc-ed a quart jar and a gallon jar. knocked up the quart and sealed the gallon jar with electrical tape and just set it to the side. after 2 weeks the quart jar was done. i then pc-ed the gallon jar again, 2 hours @ 15 psi, and let it cool for 3 days. i put half the quart into the gallon and shook. cased the rest. 10 days later and the gallon jar is ready to be cased. the reason that i am telling you guys is because no one that i know, knows about my hobby (better safe than sorry......they think i go into the woods and find them to share). Has anyone else had good results with gallon sized jars? btw- i used orissa indian via: agar, b-seed, more b-seed, etc

You say you're not using vermiculite? I am very interested because I have no idea what exactly vermiculite is and am looking for alternate ways of cultivating shrooms. Hopefully something not involving terrariums and digitally controlled humidifiers.
If i'm going to grow it'll be in a fairly limited space with fairly limited privacy.. about all the privacy i have is a 3 foot by 5 foot by 3 foot deep lockable metal footlocker.. any ideas?
thanks Alex =D

sounds like a metal footlocker would be a great terrerium. you will still need vermiculite for the casing, if you use birdseed.
