Casing Question? Overlay? (pix)

I have seen so many pix of casings some with no rhizos showing through the top layer and some with a fully colonized top layer. Which is right and what are the differences. I have a casing that is starting to pin but has rhizos shooting up from the top layer i?m not sure if this is OK or if it is overlay. Casing 50/50 w/ little poo, oyster, and hyd lime, RH 90%, temp 70-78, strain GC.
And could anyone tell me why this pf classics head would crack, I thought my RH was quite high at above 90%. It is high enogh to grow myc on the heads of these PR?s

There has been a couple of times I thought I was going to have overlay because the top layer of the casing was covered with mycelium. Here's what I do: I patch case until everything catches up and there is a nice even layer of mycelium on top of the casing and then off to the fridge it goes. I spray the inside of my fridge heavily with lysol and lay some saran wrap over the casing, not tight though just layng on the top. I keep it there for about eight hours usually and then take it out and put it in the terrarium, without the saran wrap of course.......add humidity, light, and warm temps and before you know it within a day or so that baby should be pinning like crazy.
As far as the PF Classic.......................as much as I hate to admit it I have never heard anything good about this strain. I've never had the desire to grow it but from what I've heard there are usually lots of aborts and one or two fat asses.
I'll see you on the other side......... BlueBus

okay, the pf strain does produce a lot of fat asses and lots of abhorts, but it does serve its purpose. it allows almost anyone to produce a decent yield (yes, much of it is abhorts, but they are very potent if you pick them before they rot) of good potency shrooms. there is this false belief amongst some people that they aren't very potent, but that isn't true. if grown and dried properly, they will smoke your ass.
back to the origins of the thread...
pf's don't generally case very well, at least in comparison to some of the other strains. don't know why, but i'm sure some mycophiliac motherfucker out there has the answer.

That casing is not overlay. Overlay is mycelium thats matted and dead.
Good luck

I was wondering the RH is quite high for fruiting about 93% avg.could the mycelium keep growing up?

The cracking of your pins is mostly likely a bacterial infection of some form.

Derrayld i think that those cracks are caused by air draft, not by bacteria - at least thats exactly what happened to me

Not so worried about the cracked head, in which i think that kykeon was right the hepa output was right next to it, nor the fuzzy myc on the PR?s. I realy just want to know about these rhizo?s growing as tall as my pins is this ok and is there anything I should do?
