Simple Cultivation Help
    #8831266 -

Let me start off by saying that Yes, i am a noob to cultivation. With that said, allow me to explain my situation.

The other day i was out hunting cubes, when i came across a particularly beautiful specimine. On that same patty i noticed a small, but developing pinner. So i descided to take the patty home, and see what i could do with it. After 1 night i have about 5 pinners comming out of the patty, so i need a bit of advice.

I have the patty in a 1 X 1ft. glass box that was originally used as a cloning chamber for my herb growing expiditons. It has an opening door on one of the front panels with air vents on that door. The top is a wire mesh clip on that allows for air exchange. Ive been dripping water on the patty directly and misting the entire box itself with a spray bottle regularly, to keep the humididty high. Now for some questions.

How much light does cubensis require?
How many hours on, how many hours off?
What kind of light? CFL, standard light bulb?
How often should i water?
Should i keep standing water in the bottom of the box?
Do i have a risk of contamination with this current setup?

As I said I am a noob to cultivation so please forgive any ignorance that may be present here. I appreciate all of your tips hints and suggestions, and look forward to cultivating in the future.:mushroom2:

Mushrooms don`t require light. Indirect sunlight is more then enough. Light just helps with the pinning process and way of growth. My setup consists of box filled with 2 cm of water. Mycelium (pf cake) is sitting on a jar lid which sits on clay pellets. The thing you must do is to fan the air in the box twice a day or so, so the mushrooms get enough fresh air. It would be cool if you take some pictures.

While cubensis do not require light to grow (arguably) it is recommended.

I'd go with 12/12. Turn the light on when you get up in the morning. Turn it off after 12 hours have elapsed.

The kind of light recommended most is a florescent 6500k bulb.

For PF cakes its recommended to mist each time you fan. (every 3-4 hours) Anything other than a light misting is undesirable.

You should not keep standing water in your FC as that is a engraved invitation to contams. What i would do if i were you is read up on PF cakes and treat the cow pie as such. IE. Perlite and whatnot.

And you are most likely not risking contamination. They are already pinning after all.

:goodluck:
