Explaining the psychedelic experience

I have A LOT of trouble explaining the psychedelic experience to some of my friends that want to know what its like... but i have no words to explain it, its something that has to be experienced.  Can anyone explain it with words?

Read some Huxley; that might help you put it into words.  See The Doors of Perception.

What's it like?    I just say suchness.

Tell them that if they do experience it, they will realize just how poorly words can convey cognitive experience.

a visual show like no other.. the real beauty being that your mind can make anything possible.. the danger being that you'll believe it.. the learning is being able to sort through what is just imagination and what is true possibility.

before i make any attempt at explaining something like what its like to trip to someone i start by saying that theres no good way to put it into words and the best thing to do is experience it. then i give it my best shot.

Before I ever tried psychedelics my friend would always say it was "Like being 8 years old but with all the knowledge you have now, and going on an epic adventure."

Works for me, lol.

Ha i never thought of it that way but interesting.  I kinda feel like im 8 tripping, but i would describe more as being launched into another dimension/reality where everything is new and interesting.  However i have only taken LSD.  I never really needed to try mushies cuz im tight with the psychedelic community where i rest.

I'd tend to disagree.  Perception is greatly enhanced at the expense of attention span.

Visual effects are by far the least important of hallucinogenic effects.  It is of far greater spiritual importance.

Even a firm objectivist will be able to appreciate their own intellect as sacred.

its an experience.

experiences cant be described well, only to people who have had similar experiences.

try explaining vision to someone blind their whole life.

or hearing to someone whos deaf.
