I've read all of "The Mushroom Cultivator," but it seems really vague on this. Also, given very sterile conditions, how long could i run bulk substrate innoculations from the same mycelium jar? Thanks a lot, and sorry if this is covered somewhere that i overlooked.

thanks very much. this will be my first time growing. i?m growing in a chest:
where the jars are, i?m going to put a 9" tall humidifier that should take care of the temps and the humidity. the interior is plastic lined, so i can clean with bleach easily. does anyone forsee any problems with this setup?

i thought lights were only needed to initialize pinheads. i will have room for 10 inches of growth. i think that's probably enough. air will be exchanged, also.

How long do those battery operated "sticky" lights last? I've had LEDs run continuously for a year and a half on two AA batteries for instance. Maybe there is something like that he can find that wouldn't require cords.
Edit: Jaidormi, you don't want light until you're ready to fruit.

cords are no problem, because i just run them out the back into an adjacent socket. how do you think i can run a humidifier in there?

Hehehe.. I didn't read your initial post, I was just making a suggestion concerning lights based on Roadkill's comment. I thought you might have been using the chest to help camoflauge your project and didn't want cords or anything else hanging out of it..

i would use a fishtank, but fishtanks full of psilocybian mushrooms tend to arouse suspicion from parents.
