A little dilema
    #872219 -

Hey all,
I have heard of this guy who has two large trays colonized with honeywater and a tek inspired by "fast food of the gods." The mycelium is poking through in many patches, about 25% of the entire casings on both trays (oh yeah, he cased them so I have heard). He decided to fruit them now to prevent overlay since the mycelium seems very agressive with huge rhizo's. The trays are kept in a large rubbermaid bin with a fishtank bubbler attached to an airstone in a jar of perlite. The RH is almost constant 87% and the temperature is about 78-80 F. I believe the problem is that this guy has had the trays in for like 4 days and they continue to colonize slowly, never beginning to fruit. Now what I thought was that to induce fruiting and stop colonization essentially was to introduce light, air exchange, and drop temp. He has done all that so why no pins or hyphal knots?? I hear he and his girl want to eat some freshies this weekend and he is pussywhipped so any help to speed up pinning would be greatly appreciated.

78-80*F is a bit warm for my tastes. I would recommend lowering the temperature by 5*F and being patient.

Try cold shocking them . Get temp down to about 72 - 74 F for awhile , then when signs of good growth show raise back up to temp you have now .
Good luck

how does he cold shock with the huge bin? won't fit in his fridge most likely...cover each tray with cling wrap? is there a way to lower temp indoors while keeping setup intact? - this would be prefereable since it is common knowledge that this person's setup is kinda a bitch to assemble/take down....or he is a lazy bum  one of the two....

Turn down your A/C. If you can't do this, add enough ice packs to drop the temp to the required level.
