sterlizing the needle

I'm just wonderig, when sterilizing the needle, is it necessary to get it to red hot, and if so, can i do that with a regular cigarette lighter?

how long did it take? i got mine from sporeworks, I don't know if everyone uses the same size needles but I have whatever size sporeworks gives.

I have never bothered to flame the needle. Roadkill once posted that he never uses flames and I listened to his advice and just use alcohol to steralize. Works fine.

I got my syringes from sporeworks,16 gauge needle,I sterilized mmy syringes by getting it red hot with a cig. lighter then wipeing with an ALCOHOL swab.

Just swab with alcohol and skip the flame, 91% alcohol kills everything!

I've never used a flame to sterilize. I boil by syringe and the needle, put them in a ziplock bag, wait for them to cool and then wipe the needle with an antiseptic disinfectant wipe just before injecting. I never have any contamination problems so it seems to work ok.
