Backing away from a physical challenge hurts your pride, definitely. But I've seen enough fights to know it is the best way to handle the situation. The last time a friend of mine got fucked with by some hoodlums and decided not to take it, he ended up spending over $10,000 getting a metal plate put in his skull, and several thousand more on a lawyer. And I'm talking about a guy who knows martial arts and basically whupped the shit out of the guy he was fighting...unfortunately the other guy was able to slam my friend's head into a concrete wall before the fight was over. Hence the plate.

Don't fight if you can avoid it and for god's sake don't use a knife...unless you have a really strong desire to spend a long time in jail where you will have to do even more fighting.

m00nshine is currently vacationing in Maui. Rumor has it he got rolled by drunken natives and is currently prostituting himself in order to pay for airfare back to the mainland but he's having trouble juggling a hairon addiction. He won't be back for a long while.

I think these links are interesting, and much can be learned from them, but anyone who thinks that they can really learn martial skills from the internet needs to find a good teacher. There is no comparison.

It might be better if you start a thread about different martial arts downloads. I do find them interesting and appreciat them, but I think it is distracting from the original conversation.
