Newbie grower. Help needed

Hey, I just ordered Treasure Coast spores from sporeworks.com. I'm planning on using the vermiculite/BRF/water in mason jar meathod. I read somewhere that you can subsitute "Dark rye flour" for either brown rice flour or vermiculite. I called up my local brewry store and the only rye they had was Chocolate Dark Rye. Would this substitue of verm. or BRF?? I also had a few questions about sporeworks. Are they reliable?? Do they ship fast and discreetly? Are their products reliable??
I looked through the teks and they were very helpful. I hope to learn more about growing quality psycho mushrooms.

Im not sure about the substitute thing, never heard of it.
As for www.sporeworks.com, yes they are VERY reliable. They ship quick and very descreet!
Good 1st vendor choice. good luck! Fd

Thanks a lot FD. About how much time will it take for my order to get to me?? I have ordered from various other vendors for mariujana seeds, and it has taken several weeks to get my order, and sometimes months in the case of Marc Emery's slowing his shipping down. Anyways, I live in the midwest USA.. how long will it take from there to here approximately?? I assume Sporeworks is in Tennesee because of the 8.25% tax imposed on spores sent to customers of that state.. is it in Tennessee??
Oh, another question. Can I use the described above meathod for growing mushies if I use a print?? I read the teks and nothing was said about using prints, just syringes. Thanks for the help guys.

the last thing a new grower wants to do is mess with a print. it involves much much more opportunity for contams. sometimes people will scrape spores into a jar to innoc..but do you want to open the jar your first try growing? probably not. other make syringes from prints but..why not jsut pay the extra 8 bucks for the syringe and save yourself the hassle. rest assured it's clean that way, also.

Iif you can?t find BRF, you can buy regular rice and grind it using a coffee grinder.
You can?t substitute vermiculite in the PF recipe for nothing.
The "Chocolate Dark Rye" is likely roasted and caramelized, I woudn?t use that.

Thanks a lot guys!! I just happen to have about 24 pounds of white rice (commercial white rice like the kind you buy in the large burlap bag). That would work right?? I know I just read you can use white rice.. but I can't believe it.. I must have gone to five different health food stores and three markets to find it. The vermiculite has to be of medium to medium fine grade correct? If I cannot find those grades, but only find coarse can I also smash that up to create a smaller grade?? This is very exciting and interesting. Thank you again for all your help. I'm looking forward to an answer about how long it might take to get from sporeworks.com to my place in the midwest USA.
Are spores illegal to send through the mail?? Do they get picked up much by the authorities when in the hands of the postal system??

is the white rice organic? if not then no =( spores are legal here except in cali and georgia. more state'll probly illegalize them eventually too. i don't think the grade o vermiculite matters all that much but i'd let anno answer that one.

No, you can?t smash it. Vermiculite is soft. But you can grind it up with a food processor.

I do not believe it is organic white rice. I read that you can use non organic BRF because the pesticide they put on them is not in a high enough dose to hurt the spores. Is it true for BRF and not true for regular white rice?? Damn, I was very happy to hear I could finally use all that white rice I have in the pantry. Can anyone confirm his claim that regular white rice cannot be used unless it is organic?? Also thank you for the statement that spores are not illegal in my state, I neither live in CA or GA.

True. First, the pesticides on grains are mold specific, not against the growth of higher fungi, second, if the amounts would be so big, people shouldn?t eat it either.

Sporeworks will probably get your order to you in 5 days or so if you payed with credit card. If you payed with money order it will be 10 or so.
The reason MJ seed vendors take longer is because none of them are located in the US. All of them are across seas or in NarcEmery's case Canada. NarcEmery is just a bad vedor overall.....

Wow, fast responses here. Much appreciated. So are you saying that I could use the rice that I have safely in growing in a jar??
I'm also planning on using a large pot to stearlise my jars/medium. I have heard that a pressure cooker works much better than the pot meathod... but is the pot meathod reliable?? I do not plan on microwaving the mixture due to the aluminum foil you have to have on the top of the jar when steralizing. What do people do when they micro to decontaminate?? Take the foil off??
Thanks for helping out an experianced marijuana.. but extremely new mushroom grower.

For PF-tek, more or less, yes.... Boil at least 60 minutes, better 90 minutes.

So Anno, you would reccomend me using the rice I have now that is nonorganic?? I'm sure I can wash it off a bit with a few sprays of water and then leave them out to dry. Thanks for the advice on the pot meathod. I was planning on putting it in for 90 min because that's what I read the reccomended time is.
How long do spores last in a syringe once it gets to my place in five days??

In reply to:

I've seen them last over two years in the fridge. I'm sure it could be longer than that, too.
Good luck!

Amazing, I'm on a hunt for vermiculite in my town and surrounding towns. I'm trying all the usual 'mart stores and Lowes.. HD... etc. It's been quite a help for me to be on this forum and I look forward to posting pics of my first grow to show to you guys. How much dry yield should I expect from a batch of ten 1/2pt jars PF style with Treasure Coast species?? I recently saw a grow post w/ pics that in the first flushing w/ a different strain, a guy grew 19.5 dried grams in the first flush, on his first try. Is tihs realistic for me?? Also, how much less of a gram amount does the second, and third flush produce??
Sorry for all the questions, I'm very happy to soak in all the knowledge I can,
Sammy

"Regular" dark rye flour works fine. You will find it and/or brown rice flour in any decent health food store.

you can find organic brown rice flour at any grocery store in the United States and worldwide i'm sure. Riceland is the brand I use.. just look on the bag or box and make sure it either says "all natural" or "organic".. you shouldn't have a problem finding it. I wouldn't use regular white rice.
