GROW KITS ARE A RIP OFF. Just read man. Growing mushrooms is not that hard. The stuff you get in a kit is easily abtainable. If you are going for simplicity get a couple of those pre sterilized substrate bags....I think sporeworks has em.

Myco enviorment bags from sporeworks. Just insert needle and sqirt. Tape over hole put back in box, and about 30 days later like magic 1/2 oz dried shrooms. I was in same boat as you about a month ago.

Ralphster,
You have mentioned at least 100 times on here how expensive bags are. I tell you what I m gonna do. Post a 99 percent way of being successful as a brand new beginner to grow shrooms for 15.00 a half oz dry and little or no effort and I ll buy all my equipment, supplies and spores from you. The bottom line is most beginners buy jars, spores etc spend bucks lose them to contamination. Again show me how to grow shrooms for less than 15.00 bucks a half oz with little or no effort and I ll start using you and put your url in my sig. Until then Compiler,Workman, and psilocyber have brought the best product known to newbiekind to the shroomery. If I owned the right to these bags I d be selling the hell out of them with full page ads in High Times. Personally I dont even think cyber and Workman yet realize the potential of this product.

This is very simple...
buy a filter patch bag with rye berries from dr. bluethumbs. Then buy 10 pounds of his mushroom compost. When the bag is done, just crumble it up and mix it with the compost. And then you will have ounces and ounces and ounces............

Ralphster,
Not all members here want a PHD in mycology. Some of us just want to have some fun and learn. While we are learning we want to grow some shrooms and get a buzz. Anything wrong with that? Also bud if you read these boards you would know that Workman and others here have gotten up to 4 flushes from these bags. These bags grow shrooms therefore that is learning about cultivation and the life span of a mushroom from spore to mature mushroom. You dont have to like it but these bags are gonna be a hit amongst newbies period. They are easy and you can grow shrooms without anyone in the house knowing what you are doing. I m sure you are a nice guy Ralph.. hell one guy here even says you deserve fellatio in his signature line.. but the bottom line is this... you are also dead wrong to advise a complete newbie to buy a 175.00 pod when they dont even know how to make a cake yet. All I am saying is if a person is like me and just wants to grow some shrooms and get a buzz then these bags are the way to go your first time out. This is the cultivation forum so why dont you take your hydro-pod over to vendor forum and advertise it. You are fighting a losing battle my friend because there is Myco bag flush pics popping up every day in these forums. Very shortly I m gonna show you about 8 bags worth of killer shrooms. 4 EQ and 4 puerto ricans. Having said all of that if you are a complete newbie and the pf tek even seems difficult to you buy yourself some bags from sporeworks. They are great guys and offer fast reliable service.

Talk is cheap man. Here are simple teks already posted at the Spore Works site for newbies as well as more advanced bulk methods.
http://www.sporeworks.com/advice.html
I don't make a dime from the mycobags. Equipment sales (including mycobags) are sold by Compiler under the Mycelium Fruits company on the Spore Works site. He makes them, he sells them, he mails the out. It is a product I believe in and it works as advertised.
I don't know what vendor you are implying is emailing you to stop doing whatever you seem to do. But I want to set the record straight that the Spore Works has never requested you to do or not do anything.
All we can do is offer products that we think the consumer wants in an honest and straightforward way and let the free market decide the rest.
Feel free to state your opinions but I will personally rebute and clarify when necessary.
Beer is not your friend.

This post hasn't helped a newbie at all... Just a bunch of people saying their product is better...
Don't mean to come off as an ass but I am also just a rookie looking to start growing for good reason and these two products seem very good.
Is the Hydo a waste of money you think?...

The market is speaking volumes Workman, and my sig is correct. You and cyber deserve at least anal with the lady of your choice. Bottom line is alot of people would give up and quit on shrooms if it wasnt for the myco bags. I know I have learned so much in this past month but at first it was all very intimidating. When I read a post about the bags it got me interested in really pursuing this hobby seriously. I m gonna do some casings but the bags allow me to watch the whole mushroom process without being a genius. You know how many guys have a wife and children or roomates or whatever around and cant disinfect the whole kitchen and start tekking jars and shit? A bunch. Like I said my friend I think even you and cyber underestimate the popularity this product is going to have. I make my living running a business and have been quite successful and I think I m in a pretty good position to judge. Your business is your business but if I was a betting man(which I am) i d bet cybers spore business has dramatically increased since you started offering the bags. The bags will sell spores period and bottom line. Every vendor on this site will benefit from the bags in the long run. Just my opinion.

Nope not a waste. If you have alot of time and about 200 bucks start up time I m sure the pod works great, but you have to be able to create cakes before you can use the pod. If you got 15 bucks plus a spore syringe and just want some shrooms to get a buzz and personal consumption then I d say the myco bags at sporeworks is the way to go. Actually whats funny is I ll probably do both. I love my bags but as my knowledge increases I ll probably spend the bucks on a new pod also.

I know quite alot about making cakes and such. I just don't want to have things done by someone else.
So the prod would be a good idea if you would rather like to learn more?

Yes, if you can make cakes yourself, then you don't need the bags. If you don't want to spend the bucks for a pod then check the links below for fruiting methods.

Hey Ralph you need an apprentice. How much would you charge me to come and study under you?
I want to know everything about growing fungus.
Oh shit wait, nevermind. I know how to read I am alright now. Just lost for a moment.
Why bitch about shit that makes things easy, isn't that what evolving is all about? Weeding out the shit and keeping the good stuff. I think some people here need to quit drinking when they post.
I laughed my ass off when i read this thread. Thanks for the enjoyment.

Hey Ralphster and the other people involved in this disscussion.
I am both a pod owner, and a bag user. The truth is that the pod is a great invention for the beginning grower that can afford one. I am just fortunate. I do have to admit though I have lost every cake I have put in the pod. I do earnestly believe that this is my fault for the location, and just plain screwing with it too much. I am currently in the process of designing a type of casing chamber that will hopefully be self sufficient.
I believe that the bags are the way to go if someone is not interested in perfecting their own cultivation technique. It is a safe bet that one would buy them, and get 2 to 4 flushes off of them guaranteed. I plan on putting mine in my pod once they have finished their fourth flush. I have heard of people getting a couple more flushes in this way off the bags. Of course reemoving them from the bags first.
I normally puchase four of everything I order both from Myco-tek and Sp0re Works. That is just so I have enough to mess up just in case. Unfortunately I could only afford the one pod. I wish they still made the cultivator for dumbasses like myself.
I am striving constantly to perfect my techs. So far only to have three things work out and one of them was just a freaking zip loc baggie tech, one was the bags, and one is the last cake standing in the pod that is starting to have trouble. With Myco-tek support forum down it is hard to find out what is wrong with out coming to the shoomery. If not for the great people of sporeworks I would currently be lost.
Of course everyone, I feel like has helped me just by posting things here on the shroomery. Myco-tek has helped me out quite a bit also. They do have excellent customer support, just like the SW.
I know that this is not Myco-teks fault, it is mine. I love Myco-tek, the hydra-pod, Sp0reworks, and the bags.
Just my 2 cents for what its worth.
Oh yeah ralph-PM me please if there might be a projected date for the forums to be back up.

Well said roag. I think you just summed up my whole point to this thread in the first place. The guy was basically asking the easiest way to grow shrooms and I said the myco bag. Thats when this thread burst out into the rest of it. You post makes me feel better about being a bag owner as well. Theres no doubt I would fuck up with the teks right now plus with family here in the same house it's difficult to get the kitchen to myself. I am going to try the pf tek though this weekend on some jars just to see if I can do it. In the mean time I m anxiously awaiting my bags to fruit.
