Advice for stagnant rye jars?

Some of you may recognize this scenario from last week....

My friend's uncle's roommate has quart jars of rye grains, pressure cooked and innoculated according to the FAQ recipe (trust me, by the book!). They have been stored between 80-85 degrees for 11 days now, and show absolutely no signs of growth. There is a little bit of yellowish goo building up around the bottom, and some of the grains are drying out a little.

All advice is appreciated!

You probably have a problem.

Bacterial contam is my guess.

Bin them, yellow goo is not good! Espescially when there is no mycelium.

Something was not "by the book" if after 11 days, you have not one spec of colonization & yellow goo in the bottom. Wait a few more days - & - if nada happens -- :frown:
