quick question about rye jars

Im doing my first jars of rye tonight and had a few questions:
(1) (dumb question) would a little insulation layer of perlite help jars of rye or would it just go to hell when you shake them?

(2) (reasonable questions) I plan to add a little gypsum to the jars. How much?

I will be using a P.C. to sterilize. I have seen a lot of water to rye ratios which is best for P.C. (oh yeah, Im using quart jars)

One more question: After I shoot some spores into the jars should I shake them to distribute spores? Thanks again!

Let them sit after injecting spores resist the temptation period!! Shake once at 30-50% colonized you will shake one last time but that is at 100% colonized when your ready to remove grains from your jar

Also add your gypsum before your 24hour soak so that the gypsum can soak in with your grains not after, don't add pearlite to it!! watch let's grow mushrooms from rr sounds like your trying to many new things when they have already been perfected

Haha no worries we have all been there.
The videos are online google them it's called (let's grow mushrooms 5 steps to perfect grain spawn) that's exactly what your looking for follow them to a T and you will do great

If you have never done brf cakes start with video 1 and use brf cakes, your progress will prepare and get you ready for grains I've done hundreds of jars before I stepped up to grains they are more complex start simple end strong
