Beautiful rye jars trapped!!!!
    #374807 -

Say if someone had jars of fully colonized rye berries but had trouble getting the colonized berries out for the journy to the world of casing would they be doomed?!? They're STUCK! Should the person use a knife and try to slice and dice away inside the jar to loosen the berries up? It seems when the jars are shaken the nice fluff shrinks to nothing and it takes for ever for the berries to crumble! Will this ruin the colony of wonderful puffy white mycellium?!?!?!?! is it possible that if a bad spore gets on a strong colony that it can take over? I think too much water was used when the jars were made, the ratios used were from the bulk substrate growing section in the MMGG. If this is too much water what is a good combo of rye and water for quart jars?

What i usually do to get my jars out is slam them on a magazine on my hardwood floor. If you have to i guess wrap it in a towel and crack it open with a hamer, be careful with that tho.

NO NO NO hammer put a rubber glove on and pull them out and just do the crumble cake tek instead of leaving your cakes whole.

I would try that baraka but they're not wide mouth jars, they're the quart jars that taper a bit at the top. But the cracking it with a hammer sounds like a decent idea! Thanks

Do as dimitri211 suggests. I once broke open 12 quart jars before, just trying to keep the spawned substrate together. It was a bad choice. Crumble the spawned substrate instead.

dont break them open, get the chunks out with a spoon. yes you are damaging it but when you crumble it you will damage it aswell. there is a slight chance of contamination but its what i have been doing and i havnt had a problem since i started doing it.

Milk my prostate with your tongue or give ralphster your spore prints. its your choice.

Spoon them out, if you can?t shake them loose anymore. Next time don?t let colonize that long.

Yeah just use a spoon or a knife, swab with alcohol first of course. After you get a nice chunk the rest usually falls out pretty easily.
