I have just started using rye and for now I am using multi spore innoculation for my rye. It seems to be working fairly well, although not as good as agar to grain transfers I susspect. But in answer to your question yes you can use direct multi sporre inoculations.

Yes, just open the lid on the jar and squirt in about 1-2cc from a syringe and close the lid;-)

i use maily rye and whole millet for masterspawns....or woodchips for all woodlovers...rye can be contaminated with yeasts that survive poor sterilisation easily...also do you add some chalk (CaCo3)to the rye?
