Im not sure if this is the same to to which you are referring, but I ran out of distilled water the first time I mixed up some jars and used tap water. Let them sit for a few weeks till my pressure cooker arrived. (I mixed them early because I thought it would arrive sooner).

Anyway, I ended up incubating some contamineant in the tap water...

It looked fuzzy and white and sort of powdery. I think mine were sitting longer than yours, so maybe if you leave yours out the "powder" will spread like mine did.

The second time I did it, I presterilized the substrate materials, and boiled the water I was going to use before hand- ended up with no contaminants.
Did you use plain tap water? I'd say just start over.
