It's a contam. You should save yourself the time and effort and just toss the jars.

It might be clumps of spores. If it spreads it's a contam.

the black spots are at the innoculation points. And they were there before the myc. started to grow. Which just began by the way.
The substrate is brf/verm
thanks guys......

bad news, I'm sorry to say, sounds to me like you got the cooties. Isolate the bad jars from any good ones and toss the contents ASAP. Don't take the chance of eating Trich. infected shrooms. Try and Try and Try again!!! Good luck.

You might want to just wait and see what happens. If it doesn't spread it might just be weird pieces of verm or funny water droplets on spores, see if the mycelium overtakes it.
Jars are cheap, buy some more. All I know is I've panicked at gray mycelium in honey water, almost tossed them but it turns out myco just looks weird when it first grows on solid substrate. Unless they grow or look terribly evil just set them aside and start new jars. That way if something does work out you'll have more than you expected

i say to your fishy friends that it would be advisable to isolate the "bad" ones and see what happens... if u are really nervous u better chuck them tho.

If one was going to sterilize the jars again, why not just empty them and start anew? I can usually prepare a run of jars in the time it takes my pressure cooker to warm up, and I'm sure having that dead mold in there certainly doesn't help...
