Okay all you rye grain lovers...
This is a tek stolen from Homestead Book Company.
I'm sharing it here because it really is an awesome method, and because I'm not too pleased with those jerks over there at HomeRip! (JMO).
1) Put your rye berries and water in the bag (your usual measurements).
2) Seal your filter patch bag by bunching it above the filter, twisting it twice and wrapping with electrical (memory) tape.
3) seal the top of the bag by folding the corners in and down and use paper clips to hold it shut.
4) PC the bag as usual.
5) After cool down of the PC, remove your bag to your hood, oven doorway, or glove box.
===Here's the GOOD part!!===
6) Open your SPORE PRINT BAG (YES PRINT!!) in the sterile area and use a cotton swab dipped in sterile water to wipe up the print. The swab should be MOIST, not dripping wet!
7) Remove the clips and hold the swab over the top of the opening of the bag and clip the tip off of the swab with sterile diagonal cutters (wire cutters). The swab tip will SHOOT down into the bag (to the seal) so make sure you have it aimed in the right direction!
8) Seal the top of the bag the same way you sealed above the patch (about 2" above the first piece of tape)
9) Now you can remove the bag from your sterile area and VOILA!
10) Any time you like, remove the bottom piece of tape, untwist the bag and let the swab drop into the berries.
11) Shake and mix well for 2-3 minutes and put it in your incubator!
There you have it! No syringe, no holes to seal, no jars to cover or worry about contams entering, etc., etc. And the best part is, you can use a whole print, half a print, a third of a print, whatever it takes to coat the swab well and it "knocks" the hell out of the grain without adding excess water.
I'm sure it'll work with birdseed too!
Whadaya think?

Grain to grain or bird seed from a jar to a bag works wonders & is quicker to colonize. You just have to have a clean enviroment & good clean smooth style when making the transfer. Once done, seal & store @ around 85 F.
Another almost fool proof way is to colonize a grain jar (with a small screw in the lid) far less than 1/4 full. Once fully colonized, inject sterile water (through the screw hole) so jar is 3/4 full, (replace screw) shake the hell out of it to mix contents, let it set a day (or 2), shake the hell out of it again, (remove screw) draw out the myc laden water into sterile syringes & inject into bags or other jars.
