Black Mushrooms...?

I'm the extreme newbie here, and I've done research, but apparently I had a tough time following instructions to the T, and I've let my caps grow for a little too long.  The veil had turned upside-down, and there began to appear a small black ring around the outside of the mushrooms yesterday.  I still didn't pick them because I was short on time.  Today, I check on them, and some of them are completely black.  From what I have come to understand, mushrooms lose their potency and taste worse the longer you wait to pick them.... are there any poisonous effects that go along with the length of time they were overdue to be picked?

Any help is appreciated.  Thanks!!  :grin:

Nope. No poison unless it is rotting. If its rotting dont eat it. But what it sounds like your saying is just spores that got on the top of the cap. This happens all the time. Just pick them as soon as the veil breaks. And you should have no problems

Here is the picture of what they look like....



Upon touching the top of the cap of the mushroom, the dark color seemed to rub off.  Thoughts??  :confused:

That is spores!
They drop from underneath the cap, end up on top of the cap.
They are a little overmature :tongue:
