I haven't tried it yet.(will soon) But, someone mentioned that it may have a acidic PH. You might want to check on that. And how did you use it with growing weed??

Good call!
I've heard that peat harvesting is not very sustainable,and have been using the coconut fibers myself for years with vermiculite to make seed starting mix and to add to potting soil (for VEGETABLES! you druggies).
PS both it AND peat are on the acidic side,so no problemo.

Yeah Boyz and Girlz,
Its working like a charm.
starting to get primorida accross 3/4
of the trays it looks like its going two times faster then
my soil/verm casings I am sold on it
like I stated before the green mold is no factor with this casing I even have some
bags of grain that got hit by the green death and have been treated H2O2 style and
it looks like the casing ph has stopped
any aspergilius from growing.
So two thumbs up from me on this casing substrate. Just one warning .....
Don't use a product called cococanna
it is traeted with tricoderma (you basterds!)
So heads up just use untreated coconut husks pressed in kilo blocks 1 block is about 9 liters.

It is now booming through
the coconut casing layer.
and compared to the soil vermiculite
mix its more dense and primordial looking
I will be taking some pictures soon
and posting them asap.
The pan trop strain has been giving me some grief with green mold on the casing layer
but now I am having no problems.
Next experment will be to enrich cow manure with coconut fibers and try to inoculate
it as substrate.
any other ideas?

did you do anything to balance ph at all ?

No balance of the ph at all
It seems that the acidity is just right
and its water retention is perfect
I have not done a PH test on it but I will
and let you know the results.
I have cased another two beds two days ago
and it looks like they are quickly colonizing
I am using a layer of pearlite on the bottom
2 kg of grain spawn from bags and a liter or so of the coconut casing on top.

In comparison to the (ph balanced)soil and vermiculite casing mix the growth is denser
through the top layer.
I looks like I am getting overlay on the
soil beds so I might have to recase the
containers with some coconut husk.
What I think is strange is that the bags of manure that I have inoculated are slow growing compared to the grain.

i've cased amazonians with coconut husk...to balance the ph i just put oyster shell basically did ryche hawk's 50/50 casing tek but instead of peat moss used coconut fibre since it's the only compact stuff i can get here in london. they did quite well, and i had no troubles with coconut husk...actually i suggest people to use it.
