Chest Pain (kinda)

First of all, I'd like to ask that this not be moved to the physical and mental well being forum, I want the traffic from the pub.

Okay so for a little while I've been having these strange pains in my chest area.  It's not really my chest per se, it's more like my left pectoral muscle.  It's not that bad at all, just minor discomfort.  Sometimes I get pain in my left arm too but I'm quite confidant that's just growing pain (I'm not done yet strangely enough and I'm almost 19).

This pain appears to get worse when I smoke, but I'm not sure if the pain is getting worse or if I just sketch out from being high.  I was reading online about angina's and stuff, but the reason it doesn't add up is because I'm actually in pretty good health, I'm a bit out of shape by my standards but even still I can confidently run 5 miles at a decent pace, I only weigh 145 lbs and I'm under 10% body fat.  When I run, putting my heart under extreme pressure basically, I notice no increase in pain.

I've been theorizing that it might just be gas pains reaching up into my upper body, since about a year ago I had an intestinal obstruction and ever since then I get gas pains every now and then that are worse than normal.  But basically, does this sound like something I should worry about?  I'm going to a doctor to get an ECG either way just to put my mind at ease, but I figured I'd post here anyways.

Sounds like you've got the right idea.

It gets a little tough locating pain in the chest region. I too have noticed a little discomfort in my chest, only mine was in the right pectoral muscle. It seems to happen more with nitrous than with pot, but it's there nonetheless. The thing is, with nitrous, your body can lie to you and tell you there's a problem when there really isn't one. Or your body can exaggerate pain to the point that you think you're dying when you're really not.

This kind of paranoia is strange, and the only way to ease it is to go see a doctor, which you're doing.:thumbup:

sounds like you might be right about what's going on. either way, getting an ECG won't hurt. you should be fine, but definitely get it checked out anyway.

Yeah.  I should add that my blood pressure and resting heart rate are both healthy.  But yeah thanks for the reassurance, I'll post back after I see the doc, since I know you're all so interested :wink:

that's good that they're normal, which makes me think is is just gas pain and nothing serious. never hurts to be cautious with chest pains though!
