Hey, I usually frequent the northerncountrymorels.com site to update them on the arrival of the morels. And I have spoken with Mike aka mjmhmusser on there and it seems somebody else was using his handle and posted a pm about a post I put up a year ago. It was really strange. So I tried to support this site and sites like it in a way that credits it for good things. I'm sure I'll need to talk to the real Mike when they are back on the net again.

An inch to a 3/4 inch in length! And hidden under the leaves. I'm in Cincinnati, so you Wolverines know the range.
Hey man, I gotta take out that picture. First off, images are supposed to be posted in the morel images forum. Second, some times when the thread is brought up it shows an image with the web address of shroomery.org. This website is known for growing hallucinogenic mushrooms and is not considered family friendly. Posting of the web address violates forum rules, even if unintentional like this one.
Hosting, like the one you used, is one reasons why Mike made it mandatory to use the attachment feature.

Are you someone else under Mike's handle?
That message/post is from way back one year ago.
You can't post pictures in the forum in Discussions here anymore, so it seems that was taken care of.
Yeah I know shroomery.org isn't family friendly, yet if you are going to grow morels you'll need to know the tricks of the trade and the tools. And the tools are important.
I posted pictures on their site "back then one year ago", and just used the opportunity to save ncm here some disk space "back then one year ago". I also just thought about that assertion about that site and about hallucinogenic mushrooms. And I'm not sure its a good idea to censor that. Being into mycology and knowing the tons of poisonous mushrooms it isn't a bad idea to make people familiar with them, considering toddlers eat anything that is found in the yard. Some people there would like to consider them non-poisonous but I'm sure others there would agree that for toddlers they are something that needs to be recognized in case their kids manage to pick something up in the yard and eat it. There have been deaths related to toddlers eating the psilocin containing mushrooms. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- mjmhmusser Message subject: Re: The Snakeheads are up! One Inch! under the leaves!Folder: Inbox Sorry bout that. I got a PM from a member saying that shroomery.org wasn't family friendly and seemed upset. I did think that I had seen it before, but, just could not remember when.
I didn't look at the date on the post because when I went to it I also saw the shroomery.org blue/black image box instead of the images of the half frees that you described in your post. That was my bad there by not looking at the date. I also should have realised Mike took out the image posting a while ago and that it would have not worked if you had tried to post it this year.
You did not recieve any warnings. Sorry about that, still getting used to the Moderator stuff. I got one more thing to add to my checklist before I make and @$$ outta myself again. I should have just deleted the link and IMG tags and went on my merry way.
Disregard the rest but you can read it if you want.
The shroomery.org box is a violation of the rules and is a valid reason for a warning. I didn't issue a warning because I realised that this box was unintentional by reading your post. I also pulled the link out of the image from the box them pasted it into my browser and seen the image of the half frees.
Again, I didn't give you a warning or anything. I just got rid of the link in it that was all so I didn't have to deal with people whining about a link to a "magic mushroom" website.
I basically just sent a PM just to notify you that the link was taken out and to make the post follow the rules of the board. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- mjmhmusser Message subject: Re: The Snakeheads are up! Those are Mikes rules. "No hallucenogenic mushrooms Period."
You do bring up some valid points but would have to take that up with Mike. I don't have the authority to make rules up, just enforce them. Sent at: Thu May 15, 2008 1:32 pm ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AcidHorse Message subject: Re: The Snakeheads are up! One Inch! under the leaves!Folder: Sent messages I understand the rules, yeah. But from a professor's point of view, this could have a bad result by banning knowledge or awareness of what they look like and where they are encountered. Nobody should glorify the users of those types of mushrooms, yet they don't have to chide that site itself, because it does serve another purpose and that would be to identify not only the hallucinogenic mushrooms but also truly poisonous ones as well, i.e. cyclopeptide containing, monomethylhydrazine containing, mescaline containing, ibotenic acid and muscimol containing. Those cyclopeptide containing ones, there is no cure for the poisoning they could do. I had people at the shroomery identify for me Inocybe pudica which is something I found and is poisonous. So they are not bad people its just some of the people do a bad thing. The pictures I posted there of snakeheads was in their forum Gourmet and Medicinals:
Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms (5 viewing) This forum is dedicated to the cultivation of gourmet and medicinal mushrooms. It is not a drug related forum. Basic knowledge is recommended, as not many gourmet/medicinal species use spores as step one for cultivation. Agar and mycelial transfers/slurries are the most common methods. Moderator: RogerRabbit Chat room: #edibles (1 user) You can see where they post its not a drug related section. Medicinal would apply to reishi mushrooms. But anyway, ncm ought to have a forum section on the cultivation of morels, it wouldn't just be outdoor but also indoor. And this would also bring a lot more morel-affiliated members of shroomery.org that are only concerned with morels over to here. Its funny.
This year my mother told a woman about me trying to grow morel mushrooms and the person responded to her with "Mushrooms!? those aren't illegal ones are they?". And at a later date and time they inquired again with this ignorant comment "Those mushrooms your son is trying to grow they're not illegal ones right? I thought the only ones you could grow were the illegal ones.". So it seems its not safe to grow legal or illegal mushrooms, and from the point of view of some rural people who know nothing about morels or sponge, (yes there are some country people that haven't heard of sponge), it would be illegal to grow morels as well. When I had heard about this woman's comment I returned fire and said "well where in the hell do you get the mushrooms on your pizza?", "I guess those are illegal as well". I was almost going to find that person and threaten them with libel and defamation. Because I was afraid she would contact someone in the authorities and commit the crime of libel. Libelsuit $1,000,000 for slandering my reputation. Remember Duke University? and what happened to the prosecuting DA?

Message I sent Mike your last PM. I have to stick to the No hallucenogenic mushrooms though. Rules are rules. Even though the wesite has good information, the websites main existance is for the growing of psilocibes.
We tend to point out in books and on reputable websites where to find good information on certain mushrooms and look-a-likes.
You have to PM Mike and plead with him your point of view. I am not allowed to change the rules, so you may as well be talking to a brick wall.
Again, does the Shroomery want to stay Adult only or a Democratic entity? I've done mushrooms before, yet I wouldn't want to advocate their usage to children. I'd much rather point out they are poisonous, to the kids as well. But this site has good information, yet I don't think they should label themselves as catering only to the psilocybes. It would be like a crack dealer putting up only a site for crack-only and no mj and no coke and no dose. The site is "Shroomery" which should be mushrooms in general.
