Bulk sub questions coir/blackkow/straw

Alright. I'm working on a bulk sub grow right now. I have 2 quarts of fully colonized WBS which was inoculated a cambodian liquid culture. I just picked up two bales of straw from michaels. I plan on mixing this with eco earth. I'm going to add a teaspoon of hydrated lime along with a teaspoon of vegetable oil to the pasteurizing water. This is all going in one 45-50 gallon tub. I was planning on adding a teaspoon of garden gypsum and some worm castings...Would you guys recommend these two things? Or is there anything else you guys would recommend? It's been a while since i've grown anything like this. I'm trying to make sure I don't miss anything. It will be cased with coir/verm/lime/oyster shell

I also found some black kow at the local lowes hardware. It is shipped from florida. I heard the florida kow is pretty good. I was thinking about mixing some of this in with the straw and the coir. If I don't, will I need to add verm to the substrate?

you should add more gypsum and also used coffee grounds

I just got about a teaspoon of gypsum to put in it. I am trying to find some worm castings as well. Should I use the black kow substrate?

I've heard VERY good things about Black Kow so I would suggest using it along with the coir/straw. Unfortunately it is only available in a limited amount of states so I myself have never tried it. Another thing though is the 45-50 gallon tub with 2qts of spawn. 1)I think you meant 45-50 QUARTS, not gallons. 2)That's a pretty big tub for that little amount of spawn. I would suggest using a smaller tub, around 20qts or so. The average monotub usually calls for 6-8qts of spawn ranging from 50-100qt tubs.

Nah, i'm pretty sure its 45 gallons. I'll look later. I did the same thing before. I'm very clean and spread it very well. I just started pasteurizing the coir and straw, so i'll try that.
