well im also in school partially for film so i respect it as a great way to document the end of the band and is done superbly well. scorcese was a great film maker and the band is legendary so i thought that he captured how great the band was especially in that last magnificent show. whether he gets or not is somethin else

I have DVD and the CD box set.

Marty also worked on the Woodstock film... his first commercial work.

I know it's heresy but I just have never liked The Last Waltz. I dig the band, I dig a lot of the guest musicians...but other than Neil with the monstrous rock of coke up his nose, I yawn watching that doc every time.

Yeah he was an editor on Woodstock... so he had a hand in the groundbreaking (for the time) Tri-Screen. I have the extended version.

Martin has ALWAYS kept his hand in music films.

He just did, "No Direction Home" a 4 hour doc about Bob Dylan for PBS... I have that DVD too...

A Rolling Stones doc and a Bob Marley doc are in the works.

Whoever said Marty "Doesn't get it" doesn't know what they're talking about.

He IS American musical documentary.

He is the only one who doesn't resemble 'Spinal Tap' when he makes a music doc.

I barely listen to any electronic music, don't know where you got that from...

It takes a human hand wailing on a guitar to REALLY get me going, even though I do listen to some DJ's, etc...

And like I said in my post, that you quoted - I dig the Band.

So...dunno where that came from. Other than yer own personal assumptions.

Dude, Levon was so fucking cool. The whole time I was thinking his grandkids were so lucky, he just seemed like the coolest old guy ever. So in touch with the music. So down to earth, you could just see it. And to recover from throat cancer and still have such beautiful vocal melodies...awesome. :smile:
