I've been listening to The Band a lot lately. I just found The Last Waltz Box Set online. I totally snatched that shit along with Song From The Basement as well. "The Shape I'm In" has been one of my fav's on The Last Waltz to listen to, which I am posting for anyone who might want to hear it. I need more albums by The Band aside from best of's and a live show.
So I am falling in LOVE with The Band! Levon Helms and Robbie Robertson are my favorites. I love watching him play his guitar in The Last Waltz!
Can I get and AMEN for how awesome these guys are?

Parts of the Last Waltz bore me but some parts are just stellar. Neil Young takes the cake tho.

My girlfriend has that sitting, still wrapped, atop her TV, and we've been putting off watching it forever. God I love Neil.

I love that DVD. It's so weird cause it's so country and rock and roll and the same time. It's feel good music.
"surely this thred was purely overlooked" ^that was my reaction when i woke up this morning and saw no one had responded to it.

Great music.

If you can get ahold of an old VHS version of that(before they put it on dvd) Neil has HUGE coke rocks hanging from his nose. They edited them out on the DVD version.

Quote:
Bob Dylan, in his heyday, holed up in Woodstock and collaborated with The Band to create the album "Music from Big Pink," named after a nondescript local house. (Rumor has it he's back in town.) Van Morrison wrote "Moondance" in Woodstock, perhaps inspired by the night skies made for star-gazing and romance. And thousands of other artists and dreamers have been drawn to this part of the Catskills by the region's natural mountain beauty and peaceful, easy feeling.
Hell yea I'm a fan...

Go get "Rock of Ages". Its a semi-live double disc w/ alot of really good stuff on it. Even has 4 bonus tracks at the end w/ Dylan on vocals.. Very cool.

I haven't heard many The Band albums, but all their stuff with Dylan is solid gold.
The you know they must be good when they have literally the most generic name for a band imaginable and they still get respect.

Standin by your window in pain, A pistol in your hand, And I beg you, dear Molly, girl, Try and understand your man the best you can. Across The Great Divide, Just grab your hat, and take that ride Get yourself a bride, And bring your children down to the river side.
Great song!
