Sorry for the lame question. I know it is not a good thing when you let a shroom sporulate but why? What's so bad when a shroom busts it's load?

We've been through this enough... Suffice it to say that spore droppage on the substrate CAN PROHIBIT FURTHER FLUSHES.

apart from the possible hormonal changes caused by spores in contact with your substrate, one real issue is potency. it is likely that the amount of active indole does not increase after the veil breaks. however, the mushroom may still increase in size and wieght by even double. so you and your friends will have to choke down twice as much mushroom in order to talk with the angels and your neighbor's cats. for some people this is not all that bad, but i insist that my neighbor's cat bring me only good quality shrooms if she expects to get opened cans of tuna. same goes with her friends.

you see, we have an arrangement. it seems to be working. why spoil a good thing?
