Spore Splotch?

My ex-girlfriend (a first time grower) left her apt. yesterday morning after fanning and misting her terrarium. There was one *huge* mushroom that was growing horizontally off of one of the cakes (so big it was starting to tip the cake over, and so long it was starting to molest some of the other cakes), but the veil hadn't broken yet so she decided to leave it and see if it would get any bigger. On returning home that night, the cap had opened and underneath it was a big purple splotch on the perlite which she assumes are spores dropped from the cap. My question is: is that a bad thing? Will this cause any kind of contamination or other weirdness in her terrarium? Can she just leave it there, or should she try to clean it out?
