the difference between knowing the path and walking the path?
    #8033785 -

this line started haunting me some days ago. i know it's a line from "the matrix" but i think it's derived from somewhere else.

i'd like to hear your opinions & interpretations about it.

same difference between realisation & actualisation.

you could have realised all the knowledge in the universe (knowing the path) yet if you dont actually use it in your life (walking the path) whats the use in knowing?

lots of people in this community know the truth, but they dont live it. (im also one of them, although im trying)

well i see a path that is of illumination, but this knowledge may not lead to me feeling illuminated. walking the path may lead to more experience of illumination. just an interpretation.

the line is made because it represents the balance between 'good' and 'evil'. You can walk the round straight (neutral) or you can take turns, all roads lead to Rome.
I think you could never know your path unless you walk it, you cannot interpretate the basics of it all. For the christians among us: Only the Father could.

I agree, it is the difference between knowing how to do something, and then actually doing it. Knowing the path would lead to greater understanding, but actually walking the path leads to greater understanding and a higher sense of self, I imagine one would feel more accomplished with their own efforts. It's also on the line of accepting our limitations and making the best we can with what we are given.

The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to selfishness;
From selfishness to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage.

It's like saying is easier than doing. Plenty of people want to be "good samaritans" but they realize the work that goes into and they just leave it as a realization. Staying on the path is the hardest thing to do because it takes so much self control it's hard to even fathom. For me when i realized the path, I couldn't just let it be and leave it at that. I have to walk that path so some people can perhaps learn from example. But like i said it is a very hard path to stay on and it's very easy to get off course as i have been in the past but i have complete trust that i will be led back onto that "righteous" path. But i do give people credit for even seeing the path because it can be really hard to accept something as a truth after believing something else your whole life. Peace

Knowing is far more common than walking.

How many people do you know that moan about the state of affairs yet take no action to try and change them?

Don't fake your life - inhale it
And then you'll know yourself
The change in you is Goddamn Electric
Don't waste your time, embrace it
And then you'll know yourself
The change that is Goddamn Electric will focus
The Mind's Eye...

You know if your doing something. :confused:

Its just the difference between thinking about it and physically doing it.

Say you believe that your pollution is poisoning the world for future generations but yet you never do anything to reduce your pollution then you are knowing but not walking.

I hate the 'pathless path' silliness. If you ever come over for dinner, I shall serve you a 'mealless meal'. Quick and easy to prepare and no clean-up.
