I am sure this has been asked before but oh well it needs to be brought up again.
What are your experiences with yield in dry ounces per square foot of surface area. I know it will vary greatly with strain, substrate depth casing material, etc. So please include as many details as possible. Also, please include how much of the yield is from the first flush. Thanks in advance for the great, helpful answers I am sure to see.

Thanks, I have looked through many of them but most dont give the size of their containers so it is kinda hard to tell the yield per square foot. any responses appreciated.

not to criticise Anno, who is a far more knowledgable cultivator than i, but it might be noted that most cultivators won't realize yeilds comprable to those of stamets.

Dry that would be 3-6 Oz.

no that is dry weight, that is not too extreme considering that that is 4 or maybe 5 flushes.

No way.
1 square foot of substrate with 4 inches depht has around 10 quarts(~20 pounds).
There is no way you get 20-40 pounds fresh mushrooms from 20 pounds of compost.

well mycofile said that he yielded 2 oz. per square foot in his bulk neglect log off the first flush. He told me in a pm that he yielded 8 oz total from one of those trays. he then went on to say something to the effect that a nicely equipped grow room could easily double or triple that

so that is not 2-4 pounds dry weight per square foot, but it is still a large yield, sorry for my mistake.

I would consider 2 oz dry per sq. ft per flush to be a very achievable goal. Of course it will be a good bit less for the 4th and later flushes. Over the course of a month, nearly a dry pound per sq. ft. is possible, and I would consider that an extremely good yield.
Stamets "average yield" is indeed wet weight. It is certainly average, and most cultivators here should have no trouble achieving it. Many should be capable of greatly surpassing it. My bulk neglect trays surpassed it, and they weren't even cared for. Average means average, even for stamets.
Use deep substrate layers, high spawn rates, excellent isolated strains, good pin initiation and developement strategies and proper casing surface management and you should be able to grow more than you'll ever need from a few sq. ft.

hi.. well... i feel bad for repying to a very very old thread.. but 4pounds of wet shrooms is only 5.1 oz saying that 8% is tissue... and it did say it was a poor yield... and seeing the results of the neglect tek... well... 8oz dry for the same dimentions... so i would say that when it sed 2 - 4 pounds.. its wet weight... not dry...
