Bulk coir casing
    #801202 - 08/06/02 10:22 PM (21 years, 7 months ago)

I'm trying to stock up on casing. I'm using coir/verm 50/50 and never pasturize or sterilize and have great results. Problem is coir comes in compressed blocks. Could I hydrate two or three blocks to loosen them up then stick'em in the oven to dry real quick. That way I could go ahead and premix my casing dry for storage. Coir has no nutritional value so contams wouldn't pose a problem would they. Thats my biggest worry. Any help much appreciated.

I`ve kept a container of coir at field capacity for a month without a single problem.
I find if you spray or mix the coir with a bleach solution you`re helping to create a barrier for contams.
