Medical Marijuana in LA

I posted this in the Phys. and Mental health forum, but thought it would get more of a response here.

Hi there,

I'm interested in obtaining a Medical Marijuana card here in Los Angeles so that I can use cannabis to ease my anxiety and insomnia. I haven't slept well for a few years now, ever since graduating college and entering the "real world." I'm also anxious all the time, and angry, which is new for me and really very awful.

I smoked cannabis in my teen years and remember feeling a profound since of well being and... potential, somehow, in the experience. Optimism. I stopped smoking because it was frowned upon by my parents and many of the adults I admired. It wasn't a matter of focusing on my studies--I smoked so infrequently that it couldn't possibly have a detrimental effect on my ability to perform in society. But it was illegal, and tabboo, and thus I stopped.

Now I live in Los Angeles and I feel generally miserable, ill-contented, and... blocked. Medical Marijuana is legal here!

My question is, is the desire to improve one's life, sleep better, and feel less anxious a legitimate reason to obtain a card? Will the doctor "buy" my story, or do I have to have some life threatening illness to obtain legal permission to use cannabis?

Any info would be helpful--thanks!

But any information on this topic would be appreciated. Maybe someone can guide me to another thread? IS "insomnia" and anger a good medical reason for smoking pot?

I think it depends on who you are.
I am almost positive that you would
see an increase in sleeping
and probably even less anger. Just
my 2 cents.
