still a little confused on polyfill and fae

I've read a bunch of other posts after searching first but I want to make sure I know what I'm doing when the time comes.

Last time i cut most of the top out of my fc and taped it in with polyfill. It seemed to work fine but I'm sure now I could have gotten much better fruits. I didn't fan or anything, just let it sit there.

I saw someone say if you were to do that and push down on the top or sides a little a few times a day it could make it enough fae. What do you think?

Should i just take the top off and fan a few times a day?

I'm very, very paranoid about contams so I'd rather not; but let me know what yoy guys think. Of course I'm trying to get the most out of this.

how about i modify my fc from last time with this: i wont just cut out most of the top and fill it with polyfill. i just learned co2 stays at the bottom mostly. ill still do it with the top, drill holes all around the sides above the perlite and fill those with polyfill, squeeze it a few times a day (kind of like fanning but not quite as good?).

how does that sound for alright fae with good resistance to contams.
