Polyfill and FAE

Couldn't find any answers by searching, so..
I have a 30gal RubberMaid fruiting chamber with perlite made for my cakes. Is it true that by drilling holes in the sides and stuffing them with polyfill, there will be enough FAE for my grow? Or will i still need to fan? Is this even beneficial?
Just would like to have this cleared up.

Polyfil stuffed holes IMO are not enough especially during the pinning stage (primordia formation). This would only be a passive exchange at best. Simply pushing down slightly on the lid would change this to an active exchange see what I'm saying?

So i would still need to fan, right? I don't see the point of polyfill then.

Polyfil works great in conjuction with PMPs it also will work most likely in your situation after pins are set but you will not be at your FC's full potential without adequate FAE's. Polyfil will not replace fanning so if your not going to be peeking or fanning that often then use the polyfil as it's better than nothing.

I agree. Polyfill will allow the gas exchange that is required during colonization, but not air exchange, which is required during fruiting. During fruiting, the more air exchange the better, so I'd suggest removing the polyfill and leaving those holes open. Of course, with the holes open, you need to ensure there is enough humidity to go along with that massive air exchange. Just remember, it's a tightrope act. Any parameter you change, effects the other parameters as well. RR
