Stouffer's Garlic Chicken - Healthy or Not?
    #7898287 - 01/18/08 05:12 PM (16 years, 14 days ago)

would eating a whole bag(2 servings) of this be a healthy meal compared to a foot long from subways with lots of vegetables but no condiments?

http://www.stouffers.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?ProductId=10137&ServingSizeId=7&ProductGroupId=0&SearchText=Garlic%20Chicken&ServingSize=Serves%202-4&ProductGroup=&cP=1&isPOn=True&nf=true

it's high in sodium and has a bit of sugar but it does have vegetables and is low in calories...

If those are your only options, it's probably better than a foot long from Subway unless you're one of those weirdos who orders a sub with no cheese or mayo.

Truly huge amounts of sodium in there though...

I can't recommend preparing your own food enough. It's not hard.

Definitely go with the sandwich - you get vegetables and bread with that, not just meat.

Those commercials saying how healthy Subway is are telling you the counts for a six inch sub, not a footlong.

Eating a footlong is actually as bad if not worse than the cheeseburgers they claim to be healthier than.

I say just eat it if it tastes good and don't worry about calories. Just stay active.

are you sure? i get a lot of vegetables on mine and i ask for heavy ones. i have no condiments and i always get it on wheat bread. i always get either turkey or chick breast but usually turkey. turkey and vegetables are good for me, so that leaves the bread(which isn't to bad) and the cheese. i actually save money from going to subway rather than making my own sandwich's, due to the heavy vegetables.

should i start getting them without cheese?

Yeah, those calorie counts they give you for the Subway VS. McDonalds things are ALWAYS without sauces, condiments or cheese.

A 12 inch B.M.T. from Subway has like 300 more calories than a Big Mac.

They basically want you to feel like you're eating healthier so you buy more.

It's still not unhealthy food though. And if you get heavy on veggies it's going to be better, especially with no condiments. Also no where near as greasy, so you'd probably feel somewhat better.

I was just saying the Subways calorie stats are skewed.

Just keep active and healthy though man, eat a few good meals a day and keep your metabolism up and you'll feel great and look golden.

I don't get the cheese because I cant taste it.

I don't get mayo, just mustard, salt pepper oil and vinegar.

If you like cheese, go for the cheese.
I would rule it out only if you are lactose intolerant.

Yeah, I mean, cheese tastes good and it's extra protein.
It doesn't matter how many calories you take in as long as you burn them off.
