Yes and it is also made from genetically modified E Coli

I usually hit up this food truck owned by legitimate Mexicans.
I think it's like 7 bucks a burrito, but these things are monstrous.

Dude, that price for a 2 bedroom on the beach in San Diego?!?!
that's awesome dude...I actually had no idea that was even possible(I've got family out in SD, lovely, lovely place) , but hey, sometimes life calls, other deals will be had and if you wanted to be back at that place(not that place specifically, but in SD) badly enough, you could be. But hey, the future holds many things if you play your cards right and in them are a place in your life you'll love even more

He said it was on the beach, so probably not but I would live in the ghetto in san diego for that price if it was on the beach.
I feel like the definition of ghetto in San Diego differs from that of Philly's definition.

Strain Information
E. coli K-12 MG1655
Description
Genotype: F- lambda- ilvG- rfb-50 rph-1
Serotype: OR:H48:K-
This strain was sequenced by the Blattner laboratory because it approximates wild-type E. coli and "has been maintained as a laboratory strain with minimal genetic manipulation
Just becouse it has had "minimal genetic manipulation" doesn't meant they haven't modified the genetics which is AKA being genetically modified

just because you want to read it as geneticallt modified doesnt mean it is, claiming something is non-GMO is illegal if it is genetically modified
which strain of e.coli was this non-gmo aspartame made from?

Try reading some of the patent page he linked, what they describe there is in fact genetic modification.
Quote:
DNA segments suitable for cloning are obtained from other organisms or must be synthesized. As there is no known natural source for a DNA strand which codes for the repeating protein sequence Asp-Phe, an appropriate DNA chain must be synthesized.
Quote:
A method for producing aspartame, comprising, synthesizing double stranded DNA in which a coding strand has alternating codons for Asp and Phe, said codons being of a number sufficient to produce a polypeptide which is stable in a predetermined host microorganism, insertinq said DNA strand into a cloning vehicle so that resulting chimera directs the synthesis of said protein, introducing said chimera into said predetermined host microorganism and cultivating said microorganism to produce said stable polypeptide, harvestinq said stable polypeptide from said host microorganism esterifying the free carboxyl group of aspartic acid by benzylation, fragmenting said polypeptide to produce benzyl-Asp-Phe dipeptides, methylating the carboxyl group of the Phe moiety, and debenzylating the aspartic acid carboxyl group by hydrogenolysis.

It wasn't made from one it was isolated and then modified in the lab... That doesn't make it a new strain that just means they took an existing natural strain and then modified it... Even if they modified it in the slightest way that still makes the genetics of it modifies I never said it was extremely modified into something new...

I posted a link to the patent where you can read the specifics, you are essentially refuting fact until you post some sources...

The method outlined in that patent unquestionably involves genetic modification, but it may still not be the case that much or any aspartame commercially produced today is made in that way. The WP article on aspartame mentions two main commercial methods, one which sounds like a pretty traditional chemical synthesis, and another that uses an enzyme extracted from Bacillus thermoproteolyticus.

Yeah I saw that, I mainly just think its crazy that aspartame came about that way in general.
It makes sense they would find a more efficient way to synth it though

I underlined the parts in the quotes where they explain it. A DNA sequence that codes for those two amino acids over and over again had to be made made synthetically, then introduced into the target organism via a "cloning vehicle" that I don't think they specified.
