I haven't eaten subway in years. Probably like 5 at least, it used to be my preferred fast food munchies but I quickly realized it wasn't much better.

Maybe Pris can walk us through the steps of a typical "true" example of genetic modification, and contrast that with the method outlined in the patent. Kinda seems like he just stopped reading at the word "cloning" and went "Aha, cloning isn't genetic modification."

Is that a non-GMO tampon?
And yeah, tongue is a pretty safe bet. I would recommend that first for people who are trying organ meat, because it's a muscle, it's so similar to regular muscle meat.

explain how it was genetically modified?
I underlined the parts in the quotes where they explain it. A DNA sequence that codes for those two amino acids over and over again had to be made made synthetically, then introduced into the target organism via a "cloning vehicle" that I don't think they specified.
and it still doesnt answer the question of which strain of e.coli did the non GMO aspartame come from

Commercially available aspartame is apparently produced by two main methods, neither of which have anything to do with genetic modification or E. coli. The more "biotech-like" of those two methods involves the use of an enzyme from another species of bacteria.
The method described in that patent does involve genetically modifying E. coli. It doesn't sound like it requires any special strain of E. coli as a starting point, since they don't seem to emphasize the importance of starting with some specific strain. What they do emphasize is that the needed DNA sequence (which codes for the same two amino acids over and over again) was not known to occur in any living organism, so they had to synthesize it.

I thought it said K12 E Coli was the strain they used.
