plastic spawn bags keep melting

Okay so I have tried to do spawn bags with the filter patches a few times in the hopes of ridding myself of the need for a zillion jars.  The thing is I keep melting at least one spot on the bags.  How can I stop this?  I keep them away from the sides. I keep jar rings all the way around them and such but still I get melted spots.  Would it help if I wrapped them in aluminum foil?  Or would that prevent them from getting hot enough for long enough?  The few bags i didn't freeking melt contaminated with Trichoderma.  I'm pretty sure that my usual moisture content for WBS needs to be lower for bags.  That's fixable.  Oh and is 90 minutes about right for sterilizing a 5 lb bag of.... substrate?  Be that poo, coir, WBS, or some combination of those things?

Is this a common occurrence with others who use spawn bags? I'll try the towel idea. Sounds like a simple fix. Good ideas.

yup i would try the towel... the jar rings around the bag probably conducted to much heat from the sides and melted the bags..

i do the same thing MM does in his WBS bag tek line the walls with tin foil. i put can tops under my trivet also but i do not have two trivets so thats all i do check it out its the 5th post.

aluminum foil is your best friend when working with a sterilizer. put in loads of it around everything
