MDMA and depression?
    #7876288 -

I'm curious to know if it would be unwise to consume mdma while you're going through depression...sometimes heavy.I feel manic sometimes as well...I have days where I'm real uplift and few days later...im crap.I've never experienced mdma,I might be able to get some this week so i figured I'd obtain some information before I confirm anything

that's an iffy situation.

mainly because it can be a positive experience that turns you around and snaps you out of it, or it could be positive, but have a huge depression right afterwards (which is common with most mdma/e/most pill experiences that i have had) although most of them have been bunk pills.  true mdma is enlightening and therapeutic.

some people say dose up on prozac and 5 htp and shit like that.. but i dont think it really helps..

if you get an opportunity to try it, i would recommend it.  it's probably my favorite drug and a beautiful experience.. especially with close friends, but nearly impossible to find.  if you're not 100% sure it's mdma, dont drop it because it's probably bullshit and you'll waste money, time, and probably an entire night staying up doing nothing.

Knowing that MDMA will deplete seretonin during comedown, causing mood swings and depression...I'm going to say that this is a bad idea. Seems like you could have a very rough couple of days emotionally while your body balances itself back out again

If I were suffering from a diagnosed depression, I wouldn't want to fuck around with brain chemicals. I'd be more interested in staying balanced...but that is me.

Good luck.

considering that you are calling it a 'connect' then it's probably a drug dealer and they'll lie lie lie to sell their shit.

i cant recommend doing it either. but that's just some random person on the internet. you are going to decide for yourself.

I've dealt with serious bouts of depression for a while now and I've recently experienced MDMA for the first time and it was nothing but glorious. I have a friend that took the same pills and says his come down was noticeably depressive. I, however, experienced nothing of the sort and noticed no change in mindset following rolling. This is a friend who as far as I know has no problems with depression in their everyday life. I thought this was particularly strange. Please don't take this as advice on your decision, I merely wanted to share some information with you, and I'm a bit tipsy right now so I apologize for any incoherence, I'll come back tomorrow and add/edit if necessary.

Sounds like you're kinda bipolar, I wouldn't do it. None of us know you though, it's hard to say. I don't really get depressed after I roll, but I'm a very happy person. Ecstasy can really do some good things to people, mostly it can help with social issues though.

yeah, the depletion of seritonin in your system after you come down from your mdma, will be more severe for you than it would be for someone without your condition. and knowing that absolutely normal, and balanced people spiral into depression after mdma experiences, i would HIGHLY advise against it.

have a look at http://www.maps.org/ and maybe specifically this page and this personal account

care should be taken, of course, and you should make up your own mind rather than listening to someone elses opinion. most of the research into therapeutic use of MDMA is in the treatment of post traumatic stress disorder and such research is thin on the ground, owing to the narrow minds of politicians and the general public on what is seen by many (most?) as a dangerous illegal substance.

my own personal experience is as follows. i have suffered from three episodes of depression in my life. the first two were before i had ever even considered trying ecstasy. for many years i was then fine and during this period i got into the habit of occasionally going to a club where E was regularly taken by myself and many others there. the third (and possibly worst) episode happened more recently, i stopped doing everything that i normally enjoyed, i stopped clubbing, reading, running, cycling, i even stopped leaving my house except to get alcohol (drank way way way too much and it didnt help) and food (i didnt much care about even that tho and didnt eat properly for ages).

through conventional medical intervention including antidepressants and some assistance with the alcohol issue i began to feel a bit better though was still drinking everyday (about one bottle of wine, much better than it had been). at this point, three months ago, i decided to go to my usual club again (i hadnt been for over a year) as socialising i knew would be good for me and i like the people who go there (in the previous year i had done virtually no socialising at all with anyone). i knew i would take E if i went there and frankly i was pretty nervous about it, especially since i was still taking antidepressants (seroxat, similar to prozac i think).

anyway, i took some E, had a great time, didnt drink whilst at the club (i never am interested in alcohol when on E). the next day i slept all day (as i hadnt slept at the club which went on til 8am). when i woke up the shops were shut so i couldnt buy any alcohol so i had none. in the following month i had one bottle of wine in total. since then my drinking is totally back to normal (i drink about once a week or less and then less than one bottle of wine equivalent), my sleep has improved, i've started running again, went to my family for Xmas and had a great time (no alcohol at all there!). frankly i feel almost back to normal.

now, maybe i would've got better that weekend anyway (though i doubt it) or maybe the sudden improvement was due to me socialising and chatting to some old friends at the club (i think that certainly helped) or maybe it was because i took E.

everyone is different, tho, and if you think you are suffering from depression or bi-polar then your first port of call should be your doctor. i used alcohol to self medicate and that is always a disaster. so my advice is see your doctor first and only think about MDMA when you are feeling better where it may assist in dealing with those final few issues that still worry you.

feel free to message me if you want to.
