inoculation question

Hello everyone, I?ve been reading these boards for about eight months now not saying a word and just soaking up the vast amount of knowledge contained in these forums. I finally feel confident in attempting a grow of my own.
I inoculated eight 1/2 pint jars all containing BRF as my substrate:
2 Jars with the South American strain (7/19/02) - no signs of life yet 4 Jars with the Florida + strain (7/21/02) - all inoculation points showing growth 2 Jars with the Creeper strain (7/24/02) - filled with 3ml of spore solution each
Out of those jars only the Florida jars are showing any signs of life. Below are two pictures taken of my Florida jars. I know it is too early to worry about my jars that are not showing any signs of life, and I probably wouldn?t worry so much if the Florida jars were not so active. So here is my question: I inoculated my jars at five locations instead of the regular four (one in the center). Will this center inoculation cut down or eliminate the one week wait after the jars look fully colonized? Through reading past posts I know this will speed things up somewhat, but I just want your opinions on when I should birth them.

Well congrats to you... why don't you have tinfoil on those top? You using some sort of filter? Also, here's a tip, let the jars colonize upside-down... that way they'll be in the same orientation when you birth them... you'll get more fruits, more surface area... sometimes if you don't you'll only get a few growing up from the bottom in a ring...

I dunno... I always thought it was faster just to do 4 and wait... becuase sometimes you'll innoculate at four points and only 3 will germinate and grow... what if the middle one didn't germinate, you wouldn't be able to tell... you'd birth a week early and run a higher risk of contam... I personally don't do the fifth hole, but if you find after this grow that it works for you, GO FOR IT!

Thanks for the advice guys. Like I said, I'm still very new to all this and am totally open for suggestions from the experienced.
TheShroomHermit: Turning the jars upside down sounds like a good idea and I'll try that out today. Also the reason I don't have any tinfoil on the jars is because I'm using filter disks which are a good investment if you ask me.
Moe: Your advice is always golden and usually comes backed with much experience. I will do my best to "set it, and forget it" and let my little jars colonize in peace.
I'll keep you guys updated and I'm sure I'll have a few more questions along the way. Thanks again for all your help
Does anyone want to place any bets on when my four Florida + cakes will be colonized if they started showing growth at day 3? I finally have the temp set steady at 84-86 degrees so the growth should be consistant.

I bid 22 days to whiteness all over.

I say 22 days if he's incubating - about 30 if he's using room temperature.
