Important Question concerning jar holes
    #600635 -

i was wondering if the wholes had to be sealed with sterile tape or something after inoculation..or does there need to be some sort of air flow?

from what i understand, provided you have a contaminant barrier (top vermiculite layer) it is can be beneficial to leave the tape off to allow for some air exchange. i kept it on the first batch i ever did, but since it is a pain in the ass to tape up all those little holes, i havent done it since and dont have any problems. if this is your first time i suggest following whatever tek you are using to a T to eliminate any variables.

do you keep your jars right side up or upside down, i don't cover the holes but they do have al foil on top to keep shit from just floating into them (hopefully) but i would think that upside down would be much better, but would also cause the water to have a draining effect and dry before full colonization(maybe?)????anybody?
