Drying Technique
    #767471 - 07/22/02 01:22 PM (14 years, 4 months ago)

My friend put some mushies in an aluminum baking pan and put a black tee shirt over it. My question is how far away does a light bulb need to be from the tee shirt so they can dry?

this tek's been around the board a couple times. If i remember correctly, you wrap your shrooms in a black t-shirt, and get a small like 40 watt light and hang it over the shirt, iam guessing a foot above or so. I personally would never try this, for computer fan then desiccant chamber is wonderful and have a peace of mind that nothing is lost. However if you can't get desiccant then this might work.

cup of damp rid

is this right? Should I put the lid on the tupperware back on?

12-18inches depends on how strong the light is That was me that told you. i do this myself so it works ok i still like to finish with dessicant. Just leave them there for a couple days. I forget who i ripped this tek off of months ago. It's not mine though. I do this in conjunction with my dessicant to make it last. It's Impossible to get damp-rid here. Thank god for silica crystal cat litter. The guy who thought of that is a genius. And i thank him!!

Not only does the lid need to be back on, it needs to be air tight!!

Yes keep the lid on and;Does that "cup" have holes in the bottom so water can drain out? It needs some and you'll have to empty the water out from time to time.
More so if you don't "pre dry" ... You know the light

Just put some paper towls on top of the shrooms drying, this is prolong the life of the damp rid. Havn't had to replace my damp rid for a long long time...

Damp-rid is impossible for me to get in my desert like location. No call for it. I had my stepmother ship me some out last time. What's left doesn't stand a chance.
I'm thinking silica crystals as an alternative. I seen some at Wal-Mart in the cat litter section. $15 for a BIG container (just crystals). Anyone try this stuff?
